GS E&C’s R&D centre is exploring the potential of modular floating structures as a scalable alternative to land-based development. These systems are designed for use in lakes, rivers, and near-shore marine environments, offering new possibilities for infrastructure where traditional land use is constrained or environmentally sensitive. The platform is built using concrete PC modules that are lightweight, anti-crack, and salt-resistant. These modules connect through specialised components that deliver both installation efficiency and long-term strength under fatigue. A mooring and positioning system, anchored at the seabed, ensures structural stability even under fluctuating conditions. Applications range from floating architectural and leisure complexes, to ports, runways, and bridge extensions, supporting urban resilience and climate adaptation strategies. The floating structure provides a low-impact alternative to land reclamation, reducing environmental disruption and enabling flexible planning in flood-prone or densely populated regions. By harnessing water as a platform for sustainable infrastructure, this research reinforces GS E&C’s commitment to human-centred, future-ready solutions—expanding the possibilities of urban and industrial development in harmony with nature.
