GS E&C developed the Omega Bridge, a 45-metre-long pre-tensioned PSC girder designed specifically for lower-grade railway routes, such as embankments and minor crossings. Traditionally, these routes relied on PSC box-type girders, which, while structurally sound, are costly, heavy, and time-consuming to install.
With a 30% reduction in construction cost over traditional box girders, the Omega Bridge offers a smarter, more economical alternative—especially suited to regional or rural infrastructure. The pre-tensioned design allows for high-strength performance in a lightweight form, reducing material usage and transport challenges. It also streamlines on-site installation, allowing for faster project delivery with fewer resources.
Protected by two Korean patents, the Omega Bridge has already been implemented at 26 railway bridge sites across Korea, reflecting its real-world success and widespread applicability. Its longer span reduces the number of piers needed, helping preserve surrounding terrain and limit environmental impact.
This innovation demonstrates GS E&C’s commitment to human-centred, efficient transport infrastructure—offering scalable solutions that enhance connectivity without compromising on cost, time, or design integrity.
